Storage

Since no preservatives are used, Jennifer recommends freezing her breads if they’re not eaten within two days.

To freeze:

  1. pre-slice each loaf as it’s better to take out slices as needed, instead of thawing a loaf and refreezing it later
  2. each loaf weighs 1.5-2 pounds and fits nicely into a Ziploc bag
  3. good frozen up to three months

Ingredients

All of our breads contain these main ingredients:   Filtered warm Water, Red Star (Dry-Active) Yeast, C&H Sugar, Sea Salt, Unsalted Sweet Cream Butter, and Lacey Milling Company’s Bleach-free freshly milled flour.

After these primary ingredients are involved, we then add the ingredients which flavor your bread, for instance, with the Apple Morning bread we then combine cinnamon, diced apples, and walnuts for the flavoring.  Our goal is to give you bread with the most healthy ingredients available (we get our Apples all other veggies and fruits from the local Farmers’ Market) and with no preservatives or anything that our bodies weren’t meant to ingest or that will give us cancer in five years!

So, without further ado, here are your ingredients for each bread minus the primary seven mentioned above:

Tuscan Sunrise: Sundried Tomatoes, Rosemary, Oregano, Basil, and Dried Garlic.
(Herbs are fresh from Farmers Market when in Season)

The Athenian: Local fresh Preserved Kalamata Olives from Farmers’ Market, Dried Dill from earlier this year when in season (also from Farmer’s Market), Feta Cheese

The Mariachi: Jalapenos, Fresno Chili’s, and Serrano Peppers all picked fresh weekly and purchased from the Farmer’s Market, Chili Powder, and a blend of four Mexican cheeses- Queso Fresco, Asadero, Cotija, and Manchego.

Apple Morning:
Walnuts, Farmers’ Market Apples, and Cinnamon.

Raisin’ a Ruckus: Raisins, Walnuts, and Cinnamon

The Almond Tree: Rum, Almonds, Cinnamon, and Almond Extract.

Very Berry: Blueberries (fresh from Farmer’s Market) (F.M.) and then frozen, Cranberries, Flax Seed, Sunflower Seeds, Whole Bran, Whole Wheat, Oat Bran, Groats, and Whole Oats.

Down To Earth: Whole Wheat

Cloudy: Original seven ingredients

Black Forest: Baking Dark Cocoa Powder, Dark Chocolate Chips.

Orangey Goodness: Ferry Farms Oranges fresh-squeezed, Orange zest.

Captain’s Crust : Made from my own sourdough starter.  NO Dairy at all in this bread.  (Note: we usually glaze our breads hot out of the oven with butter including this bread, but you can request the bread minus the butter glaze)

Pesto Perfection:  Made with my own Pesto which is- Fresh F.M. Basil, Walnuts, Fresh Pressed Olive Oil, Parmesan Cheese, Sea Salt, cracked Black Pepper, and Fresh Garlic.

Tuscan Sunrise

An early morning walk in southern Tuscany, the sharp smell of fresh Rosemary in the air… brings back memories of lovely, candle-lit dinners in that dark, aromatic little Italian eatery on the corner.  Let this gourmet, hand-crafted loaf (which is a superb combination of Rosemary, Oregano, Basil, Garlic, and Sundried Tomatoes) enchant your dinner guests on your special evening. This is excellent when warmed until crusty and paired with fresh-pressed Olive Oil and your favorite Balsamic Vinegar.

Pompeii

A beautiful city buried alive from the soaring explosion of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D. then rediscovered in 1592. Think how the ashes must have glowed and could be seen for miles away at night! This loaf’s particular combination of Chili, Cayenne, and Cherry Peppers with a wonderful background of Rosemary, Oregano, Basil, Garlic, and Sundried Tomatoes will delight your senses and has a wonderful bite for those who enjoy being bitten...  This is amazing as a grilled cheese sandwich! (Try Asiago or Mozzarella)

The Athenian

Spend a lovely afternoon in Athens as your senses take a stroll with organic fresh Dill, Kalamata Olives, and Feta cheese.  The Feta fans take note- this bread has a lovely infusion of all three flavors which, while strong on their own, blend together and marry quite harmoniously into an almost buttery flavor.  This is excellent with a dash of Olive Oil, grilled on the BBQ, and paired with your favorite white wine.

Captains’ Crust

Hark all Ye Sourdough lovers!!!  This unique sourdough is wonderfully crusty and superb with a melting pat of sweet cream whole Butter.  Our sourdough comes from our own starter, and has no dairy, no bleach, and no eggs in it. This is great bread with any meal of the day and we’ve been told it makes an awesome French toast.

Cloudy

Ever lay on your back in the soft, cool, grass in the summer and wondered at the tall fluffy clouds in the sky?  Did you try to see faces in the clouds?  Our Cloudy bread is just that- tall, fluffy, and has wonderful hand-crafted shape to it. This is our version of white bread, but is organic, and we use only unbleached flour.  This bread has a slightly sweet taste to it but is fantastic as a ham sandwich or for that Saturday morning French toast with the kids…

Mariachi

A warm evening in Mexico finds us in a little cantina, stuffed to our gills and enjoying our beers. We lean forward in delight as the drums announce that dancing of the Mariachis is about to begin. The beauty and superb control of the dancers are admired by all.  This loaf has that wonderful infusion of fresh Jalapenos married with Queso Fresco, Asadero, Manchego, and Cotija cheeses. This bread is a great gift to that guy in your life that loves authentic Jalapeno flavor.  While not overly spicy, this also makes a wonderful grilled cheese sandwich.

Down to Earth

Looking for a traditional whole wheat bread for your morning toast?  How about one that is wonderful paired with just butter or your favorite preserves?  Down to Earth is just that- a hand crafted loaf with no bleach, preservatives or eggs and has a wonderful texture, taste and density to it. Cut your thick, soft slice and enjoy eating something that gives you wonderful, home-cooked memories.  This is the perfect PB&J bread…

Very Berry

A deep summer afternoon in the meadow spent berry picking, our fingers stained with the ripened berry juices. Half of our bucket we ate ourselves, so we pick more and more. We never mind our thorn-poked fingers because we know what mama is going to do with the berries!  This loaf of bread is lovingly hand-crafted and has organic Farmer’s Market Blueberries, Cranberries, Flax Seed, Sunflower Seeds, Freshly ground unbleached Whole Wheat from Lacey Milling Co., whole Bran and Oat Bran. Our heaviest grained bread is best appreciated simply toasted with fresh Butter or Cream Cheese.

Black Forest

Early morning and the sun has not yet risen, and all we can see are purple shadows splayed across the black ground, which is sprinkled lightly with the first snow.  Warm chocolate toast and coffee and thick wool socks and we are ready for the day…
This unique bread is made with Cocoa powder, Chocolate Chips and Rum.  (Yum!) A soft sprinkle of powdered sugar graces the top of the loaves.  We suggest either a sinful Chocolate French toast or a decadent thick slice of this bread warmed and drizzled with Chocolate or Coffee liquor and a creamy scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream as a delicious end to your dinner party or date.

Apple Morning

The leaves on the trees are gorgeous shades of crimson and gold, and the air has turned delightfully crisp.  Rather like the wonderful sweet apples off the tree in the back yard, we bring them in by the basketful looking forward to mamas’ Apple bread…
This loaf is a wonderful mixture of Fuji Apples, Walnuts, and Cinnamon. With a wonderful Cinnamon swirl through the middle and gently coated with a Cinnamon glaze, this makes a decadent French toast or a wonderful ham sandwich.

Raisin’ a Ruckus

Nothing is more fun than Raisin a Ruckus when you are a kid, running wild through the house after your sister, determined to “get” her!  We happen to think that our Raisin bread is worth the noise!  Topped off with a lovely powdered sugar glaze our
Raisin, Cinnamon, and Walnut bread also has a delicious swirl through the middle. This is so good, even our non-Raisin fans love it! This is great as toast or fantastic French toast.

Orangey Goodness

Hot summer afternoons find us with fat, succulent oranges torn open and sweet juices dripping down our faces. We could do no better than to take the best organic Farmers Market Oranges, juice and zest them and create fantastic bread. We suggest a heavenly French toast, add Triple Sec to your egg wash and “wow” your guests.

The Almond Tree

Somewhere out in the wide world is a German pastry with a name we can’t pronounce, which has a creamy, divine almond paste through the middle of a soft and flaky roll.  Here is our best endeavor to mimic that paste in our Almond loaf.  We marry Rum, Almonds, Cinnamon and Butter and what a combination it becomes!  This has a light sprinkling of Powdered Sugar coating the loaf.  Again, we suggest you try this as an unbelievably delicious French toast.

Pesto Perfection

Whoever created Pesto should be soundly kissed.  We took a Purple Chinese Basil from our local Farmers’ Market and blended it with local, pesticide-free Walnuts, fresh-pressed Olive Oil, Local Parmesan cheese, fresh Garlic, Sea salt and fresh-ground Black pepper. We then rolled it through the middle of our bread into a perfect swirl, and topped off the loaf with a light drizzle of Olive Oil.  Hide this one, because everyone in the house will eat it before you get home…  We suggest you pair this with your favorite wine (red or white) and with perhaps a Garlic cream sauce over your favorite pasta.

We use only sweet cream, unsalted butter, and sea salt. Our sugar and sodium amounts are minimal. (2 cups of sugar to 12 loaves and ½ cup salt to 12 loaves.)
