Farmer Bob Petrucci tends to over 1000 tropical trees on his family-owned and operated farm in the historic growing region of Dade County, Florida. He specializes in longans, lychees, guava, purple passion fruit and dragon fruit - though Fresh Gardens offers many other unique tropical fruit varieties throughout the year. His favorite? “Golden Passion Fruit! A very unique, very juicy fruit.”

“There are only a few regions in the entire country where you can grow these tropical fruits, and this is one of them,” explains Farmer Bob. “You’ll find that many of these varieties are shipped from all over the world, but when you buy directly from us on FromTheFarm, your fruit is picked when ripe (not green!) and delivered to your door.”

Distinctively different from the purple variety---sweet yet tart---the Golden passion fruit offers an array of cuisine options. Being a larger fruit you will get a lot of juice from just one passion fruit. You can eat the nectar inside the fruit as well as the seeds. It can be used as a flavoring in drinks, ice cream, sorbets, jams ,sauces, and marinades. Many like to drizzle it over bananas or use it as fruit dressing as is traditionally done in Australia. To eat, just slice the fruit in half and scoop out the pulp. Throw out the skin, or the natural form of pectin in it, can be used as a natural way to make jams and jellies.
