Clearwater Country Foods is an earth-friendly company dedicated to producing safe, healthy food using environmentally friendly methods. Douglas Moser, president of Clearwater Country Foods, is the fourth generation farmer in Palouse Valley, Idaho. Douglas, his wife, Judy, and their three children began producing fresh garbanzo beans in 1980. New technology and enhanced harvesting equipment introduced by Clearwater Country Foods now makes this delicious legume available fresh year round.
Douglas has deep roots in the Palouse Country and even deeper convictions about the produce they grow. The Moser Family emigrated from the Alps of Switzerland and fell in love with the Palouse Valley. Going as far back as the 1800’s Moser’s have been farming the fertile hills of the Palouse Country located in the Pacific Northwestern United States.
Doug is known for developing farming methods and operating procedures for the garbanzo that are widely used today. At one time their farm produced over half of all domestic garbanzo production. Moser dreamed of developing a system to pick the garbanzo plants fresh and green, while in a more nutritious state. He was convinced this new variety vegetable product would benefit all consumers. The Moser family's enthusiasm and support carried the dream to a reality in the summer of 2002. The Moser family has devoted 100% of its time to the development of this exciting vegetable.
