Lisle Babcock knows his citrus! We love finding innovative growers like Babcock, who are committed to growing new and unusual varieties full of flavor and harvested at their peak of ripeness.  Babcock grew up in a farming family. Citrus was always a favorite -- the family grew five acres of oranges when he was young.  After teaching elementary school and high school for many years, Babcock’s began growing citrus seriously in 1988 in California’s San Joaquin Valley, known as California’s orange belt. The fruit is grown by Babcock and a group of family farmers whose commitment to superior taste, hard-to-find varieties and support of organic growing methods results in unsurpassed flavor and quality.

Babcock grows more than 60 varieties of citrus, from sweet limes and kumquats to pommelos, tangerines and the unusual but delicious African Shaddock. He uses a simple brushing method using a brush coated with natural compounds to clean his fruit and let it breathe. This produces a fruit that is full of its natural flavors, not artificial wax and fungicides. Babcock’s fruit is hand picked to order only when it’s fully ripe and ready to eat. It’s shipped to your door within days, not weeks, of harvest.

Babcock is also an excellent Pomegranate farmer. For those of you who really enjoy eating fresh pomegranates, you no longer have to spit out the seeds. The seeds are soft enough to be eaten along with the pulp, making the whole experience of eating a pomegranate even greater.
