First started in Europe and Japan because of an increasing disconnect between smaller producers and consumers, this concept is now blossoming all over North America. For example, Family Farm Fresh (FFF) CSA in California’s San Joaquin South Valley serves 300 families within a 40-mile radius. Year round, FFF guarantees their CSA subscribers at least: 29 winter crops, 20 in spring, 25 in summer and 22 come fall. CSAs are typically limited to local-area deliveries only. Now, FromTheFarm.com is taking CSA to a whole new exciting level—by delivering FFF CSA goodies locally grown in central California to all of North America. When they find deliciously unique fruits, Family Tree Farms negotiate for the exclusive U.S. growing rights for those varieties. Family Tree Farms has established an R&D center in central California where they grow, test and evaluate fruit from all over the world as well as from the wonderful breeders right in their own backyard.

The Stober family farm has been in existence for over 100 years near Goodrich, North Dakota, where flax seed has been grown for many generations. The John and Stephanie Stober family represent the 5th generation to grow up on the family farm.
