The unusual and exceptionally sweet fruit, ‘dragon’s eye’ or Longan is available throughout the year (some lulls in availability do exist) in 8 lbs. boxes. The dragon’s eye are golden skinned, and have an opaque delicious fruit. These fruit has been a favorite in South East Asia for centuries. Longan, one of the most prized fruits in Asia, is also known as “dragon eye.” A round fruit the size of a large grape, it’s easy to peel, thin golden-brown skin exposes white translucent flesh surrounding a shiny black seed. The extraordinarily sweet, juicy fruit has a wonderful musky, fragrant flavor.  Longan is a premier dessert fruit and is usually eaten fresh. Longan can be dried, used in desserts, frozen, and canned. Refrigerate longan in breathable bags. The skin may darken and become brittle, but the fruit inside will remain fresh for up to two weeks.
